When is a Good Time to Return to Work?

When is a good time to go back to work?
How do you know it's time to go back to work after being a stay at home mom?

When the time is right, you think you will know it. But sometimes, stay-at-home moms don't realize they're the last ones, um, staying.

All you new moms sitting home on maxi-pads the size of volkswagons, with bloody, cracked nipples (you know who you are), crying over McDonald's commercials holding a beautiful baby you can't stop looking at, I'm not talking to you.

Nor am I talking to those with multiple car seats, sippy cups and little baggies of cheerios all over the floor of their van (see, I said 'van,' clearly a sign I should be working).

However, if you're teaching your kids to drive, stalking their Facebook photos for notorious red plastic cups, and buying Costco-size toilet paper reams, you may want to read on.

NEWSFLASH: Getting a job, internship, professional work experience during school hours will not eliminate you from your kids' lives. There's just a whole lot of down time during the school day that can and should be navigated wisely to remind you of the you you used to know. She's in there.
